Routine Checkups Nutrition Exercise Important Considerations


Routine Checkups
  • Annual Pap smears unless previous abnormals
  • Regular dental checkups and cleanings
  • At 35, Mammogram baseline
  • Over 40, annual Mammograms unless family history or abnormal findings indicate otherwise
  • Over 40, Stool exam
  • Over 40, Colonoscopy / Sigmoidoscopy
  • Over 40, annual physical with their primary care
  • Women over 40 with or without medical problems should have any annual physical with their primary care.
  • Every should have regular dental checkups and cleanings.
  • Stool tests should be performed after the age of 40

Nutrition
  • More fiber as in fruits and vegetables
  • Low fat
  • Supplements
  • A good multivitamin including vitamin A through E
  • Calcium supplements (over 1000mg) unless diet high in milk and milk products
  • Approximately 8 glasses of water (caffeine drinks not included)

Exercise
  • Exercise at least 3 times a week well over 30 minutes of continuous exercise with no rest stops in-between, unless not recommended by your primary care.

Important Considerations
  • Woman approaching menopause or postmenopausal should come in to discuss hormones or other alternatives as in Evista or Soy.
  • Planning to conceive Please optimize your health with good nutrition, exercise, folic acid and give up bad habits (smoking, alcohol, substance abuse, etc…)
